Please follow our circle around to Danika’s blog and read her letter to her daughter for this month. I love the way she writes and look forward to reading her posts!

Living in California and in the city that I do, I have come to appreciate the access to good food that I’m so blessed to have. If I was living in another country, another city or born into a different socioeconomic group, access to healthy food could be virtually non existent. My church is doing a global hunger fast next week in preparation of Easter where you are challenged to eat for seven days as half the world’s population eats every day. I think that attempting the hunger fast will give me an even greater appreciation for the simple but huge blessing of good food in the life of my family. Please follow the circle around to see what Megan Dill has to say about food this month. I have seen a lot of gorgeous still life images from Megan and I can’t wait to see what she has come up with.

My sweet girls. I want you to know that I am so blessed to have you two as my babies. Sometimes there are these fleeting moments of motherhood that I want to bottle up and save to be opened at a later date like a good bottle of wine. But unfortunately that is not possible. One day I will be left with pictures and snippets of video of my most precious moments with you, never to revisit them again other than in memory. This week alone I can name these moments. Your deep belly laughs when I “drink” the crab in the pot from your little toy kitchen. Or the downy soft head of a sleeping babe in my lap. I confess that by the time bedtime rolls around I am usually ready for some down time myself, but sometimes I hold you for a bit longer. Knowing that all too soon you will just need a quick tucking in and a good night kiss. The way “not again!” is said in such a silly voice when you are playing. The way big sis loves to pick up little sis and carry her around the room, and the way little sis just adores that attention. I hope you see the smile that these moments put on my face. I hope that one day when you look back on your childhood you think of it as a good one with a mommy and a daddy who loved you very much and more sunshine days than gray. My precious babes. You bring me so much sunshine.

The months go by so quickly in a whirlwind of schedules and doctor’s appointments and social events and that makes me even more happy that I’m participating in this blog circle with some lovely friends that forces me to slow down and take it all in. Please follow the circle around to Sarah’s blog to read the letter she wrote her daughter about their upcoming move from the tiny island of Mauritius to the States.

It is a little heart breaking to find out there is something wrong with your baby. This little girl has been a trooper lately. She’s been to multiple doctors, dealt with wearing an eye patch on a daily basis and now glasses are our most recent adventure. Up next month, eye surgery. Over the last month I’ve seen beauty shine through it all. Beauty in modern medicine. Beauty in friendship and offers to help. Beauty in God’s provision of one good eye. When I look at my girl in her little glasses I see her beauty shining through. See how my friend Sarah Mazza views unexpected beauty this month. She is so very talented.
