Letters to our Daughters | thriving

Oh this face!  My wild, wild girl.  I can’t tell you how happy I am to see you thriving after your surgery.  You are so independent and accepting of change.  Every day you let me patch your good eye without too much fuss.  You are also very quick to let me know when “baby has my glasses!” and that happens quite often.  You say the most funny things on a daily basis and your daddy and I love to talk and laugh over your phrases after you are tucked in bed.  You are such an animated, physical little creature.  I often wonder what you will be when you are all grown up.  A tennis star?  On Broadway?  I don’t know, but I just can’t picture you sitting behind a desk.  You are a bold one and you will walk right up to older children and take charge.  I am not sure where that comes from because I don’t think your parents were like that as children.  You are very emotional and there are many hugs, tears, fits, songs of happiness and episodes of throwing yourself on the floor in despair on a daily basis.  Why would we need a television when we have you to entertain us?  Thank you for teaching me and keeping our life exciting my little muppet.  I love you so.

Please follow our circle around to Danika’s blog and read her letter to her daughter for this month.  I love the way she writes and look forward to reading her posts!

Elicia, these are such sweet letters, and they help me visualize Lilly and Ruby growing up…we miss being in on the daily activities and Lily coming to bang on our storm door and ask “pwese” next to the jelly bean jar.
Love,
B&G

Elicia, I love this glimpse into your daughter’s personality. You did an amazing job describing her – I feel that even though I don’t know her, I could pick her out of a crowd! You’ve got quite a little firecracker on your hands. :)

Jo Clark - April 12, 2013 - 8:22 PM

I love this so much Elicia. Isn’t is so fascinating to watch them grow and daydream about what they may become in the future? She has the world at her fingertips! So glad she is adjusting nicely to the glasses…she just looks adorable in them!

Heather Meyer - April 15, 2013 - 6:57 PM

I’m so glad she is doing well Elicia! She doesn’t look like those glasses change her personality at all!

Kristen - April 17, 2013 - 2:03 PM

LOVE this image! She is cute as a button, seriously!! <3

Love this letter. So honest and real. What a beautiful girl. ♡

the little things | food

Living in California and in the city that I do, I have come to appreciate the access to good food that I’m so blessed to have.  If I was living in another country, another city or born into a different socioeconomic group, access to healthy food could be virtually non existent.  My church is doing a global hunger fast next week in preparation of Easter where you are challenged to eat for seven days as half the world’s population eats every day.  I think that attempting the hunger fast will give me an even greater appreciation for the simple but huge blessing of good food in the life of my family.  Please follow the circle around to see what Megan Dill has to say about food this month.  I have seen a lot of gorgeous still life images from Megan and I can’t wait to see what she has come up with.

I love that you interpreted this month’s theme in black and white–it conveys texture so beautifully. Gorgeous work, as always.

Wow! What a neat commitment to make for the week. Your images are beautiful… the shadow + light bring the texture out so well. Such neat form!

Megan - March 21, 2013 - 6:08 PM

I love how your conversion really emphasizes the texture of the artichokes. So beautiful, Elicia <3

Celeste Pavlik - March 23, 2013 - 3:34 PM

Your photos are lovely, but I love what you’re planning to do with your church group. What a great sacrifice!!! <3

Allison - March 24, 2013 - 4:35 PM

Gorgeous, Elicia! Lovely texture and shadows. You’ve made an artichoke look simply beautiful!

Sarah Mazza - March 26, 2013 - 6:33 PM

Elicia these are stunning…the texture is to die for, and I must admit, it’s making me crave spinach and artichoke dip, lol. Yum!
