This last year encompassing our move from Texas to California has been one of change and growth for me. Starting over in a new place. Making new friends and missing old ones. Adding a sweet baby to our family. Hard work and long hours by my husband and many adventures on the weekend. Recently I’ve come to the realization that the drive to have a photography business is no longer there, and that I’m much happier shooting for myself. I’ve grown so much as a photographer in the last year, through hours of study and practice, several wonderful classes, and late nights spent editing when I knew I would be up with a baby in the middle of the night and an early rising toddler. I know I still have so much to learn. It is a never ending process. That said, I’m content with my journey and pleased with my progress. I no longer feel fraudulent uttering the words “I am a photographer”. I know what I like in my images. I know that I’m mainly drawn to black and white processing, but that it is ok to throw in some color here and there. I plan to share my favorite images on my site and I hope to post fairly consistently. I would love it if you all would continue to follow my journey. It is so wonderful to have something that I love to do for myself. It can be hard as a stay at home mom to little ones to not lose your identity to that tiny three letter word “mom” (and I encourage you sweet friends, to find your little piece of happiness). So I hope to take on some personal projects and some challenges with my peers that I will be sharing here. Most of all I will be sharing the images that make my heart sing. I hope you all enjoy them too.

I love this post and really identify with what you have to say. I am so glad you are enjoying shooting for you and what makes you happy. Your work is beautiful and it is evident through your work that you are in a happy place with your photography. You can really tell that you are not tied down to having to please for the sake of a business. Your creative side is shining through more and more all the time. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
